There is a mistaken idea that mold only occurs in the damp and dark. The truth is that a home in sunny California is at just as much risk as a house in Wisconsin in the winter; perhaps even more.
 
Mold spores need a temperature range of 68 to 86 degrees in addition to a source of food and moisture to expand and grow. Once these factors are in place, they spread out from their dormant state and then mold damage in Covina can happen in any home. Temperature is the most difficult factor to affect. Technicians test the humidity, and if it is above normal, they install a dehumidifier to draw out moisture from the air until the percentage is back in the correct range. With no source of moisture, mold spores shrink back to their dormant state and are no longer a problem.
