Mold Removal and Remediation Needed? Call SERVPRO for Swift Service in the Irwindale Area

Irwindale Homeowners Trust SERVPRO for Safe Mold Remediation

Mold spores are present in every Irwindale home. They are in most room, closet, attic, and probably in every piece of HVAC ductwork. Usually, mold spores are non-threatening to property and residents. It is only when they come into contact with a source of moisture, do they pose a threat of expansion into colonies.

Even when Irwindale mold damage does happen, it is rarely a health issue. Mold can cause health effects in a small number of individuals. SERVPRO technicians understand that mold is a much greater threat to the structural property of a home than to its residents. After removing the source of moisture, our specialists use a variety of tools and materials to draw mold and mold spores out of the air, off surfaces, and to block further both further growth and the musty odors that mold can produce.

Technicians use an air content meter to measure the number of spores in any given room or hallway. For very high amounts, they set up air scrubbers to capture and trap these airborne spores using specially designed HEPA filters. These filters are also excellent tools for removing dander, dust, and other microbial substances from the atmosphere.

As the air scrubbers work, other technicians inspect the ductwork. If they find active, growing mold, they seal off the vents and use scrubbing brushes with an anti-microbial cleaner to kill the spores and remove them. If the mold grew far into the system, SERVPRO specialists set up a fogging machine to generate a cloud of anti-microbial particles and then set up an exhaust fan on low power to force the cloud throughout the HVAC system, covering every surface and destroying the mold. After the cloud has had enough time to cover every surface, team members open a vent outside of the home and then the fan on high, blowing every mold spores possible into the atmosphere.

For walls inside the home, technicians wipe down each surface with a dry or damp sponge, depending on the amount of mold present. Once they cannot see any further mold growth, technicians can paint over the affected surfaces with a paint that contains a mold retardant which reduces the chance of mold growing across that surface again.

The goal of SERVPRO of Azusa / Covina is to remediate mold growth in each home and to reduce the risk of another infestation. If you are dealing with the effects of mold in your home, call us at (626) 387-4111 today to schedule an inspection.
